Facebook is the largest social media website in the world, with over 1 billion monthly active users. It has been an effective marketing tool for small businesses looking to grow their customer base and increase brand awareness. So how do you get started? This blog post will provide a step-by-step guide that walks you through everything from creating your Facebook account to setting up your page so it gets found by potential customers.
We are finishing our four part series on Senior Start-ups. The last piece of the puzzle is to go out and tell the world about what you want to share. In the video below we talk about bringing value to your customers both current and potential ones. Always try and bring more value then ask. What we mean is that 80% of the time you should be providing your audience with something of value with no strings attached. Everyone likes to buy but we don't like to be "sold" to. 20% of the time go ahead and share what you are promoting. People expect to see what you have to offer they just don't want it pushed on them.
First, go to the Facebook website and create an account. It's free! Once you've done that, it will ask you which email address you want notifications sent from. This is important because when your page goes live (more on this in a few steps), people can "like" or follow your page within their newsfeeds so they get updates.
Next, go to the Facebook business page and click "Create a Page." Fill out all of the required fields (the name is your choice) and review everything before you hit publish. Once published, it takes about 24 hours for your page to be reviewed by Facebook staff-this step should not take very long at all.
Once your page is published, you are ready to start engaging with people! If you want followers or "likes" on Facebook in order to build a community of interested parties who may purchase products from you at some point, then it's important to have an eye for quality content that relates specifically to what customers will notice and appreciate
