Women Leaving the Workforce 4:1

What is the Impact on Women in the Workforce today?

The climate we find ourselves in has impacted women much more than our male counterparts. More women are staying home. According to the US Labor Force Statistics 865,000 women dropped out of the labor force in September compared to only 216,000 men. Why is it hitting us women harder? While the job market has changed and many people have been furloughed or lost their jobs altogether the hardest hit has been women. Not to say that more women have been forced to leave the jobs they work more than men but, who is going to be the one to stay with the kids with virtual learning in full force? At a staggering rate of 4:1, women are the ones staying home. As a former single mother of 4 kids and now a very happily married grandma, I always wanted to be at home but obviously I needed to make a living to support myself and the kids. Women are leaving the workforce to make the decision to put family first. The caveat is that what happens to the household income when mom comes home? What happens to the mom who gets fulfillment working in a career she loves?

Fast forward to today and this single mom has moved forward to have a home business, work part-time as a R.N. by choice now, and getting ready to launch another business the end of this year. We are stronger then we believe. We can pivot during this time and come out on the other end better than we started. It is hard. No doubt about that. It down right stinks! My message here is to don’t give up on your career just learn to pivot. Contrary to popular belief there are ways to get it all. Now is the time to reflect on how you can turn that lemon into lemonade, you may have to add a little vodka to get through this now and then, (or maybe not!) but the bottom-line is don’t give up! What are your passions. What new skills can you learn to turn a profit by doing something at home. Are you good at writing? Are you good and social media marketing? Are you creative in other ways? What skills do you have that are marketable and allow you to pivot and work from home? Necessity is the mother of all inventions.

This month on our Facebook page, we have been featuring many ways to turn a profit from home. I have included a recording of a podcast that features 2 of my favorite women discussing this very subject. Impact on Women in the Workforce

My passion is to help as many single moms, grandmas and moms that choose to stay home realize the life they want to live by supporting their entrepreneurial spirit with tips and strategies not only to find ways to save more money, but also to earn more money working from home. I was always told that the only way to get ahead financially is to do one or both of these things. 1. Cut Expenses and 2. Find a way to increase the money coming into your household.
